I met Rich at my friend George Ward's wedding and from that day on I knew I had a friend and a good person in my life. Dear Findley Family, When we heard the news it was inconveivable to comprehend. Rich spent so many days and nights at our house we thought we had another child. There was a crew known as the 4 Muskateers who went all over the Calverton area at all times of the day or night. Although Rich and my son were best friends he would often just come to see me and we would chat. He loved a cat named "Scarllett" , and was happy that when she had to be given away she went to a family member. Once Calverton was evacuated with no one getting in or out because of a suspected toxic chemical and everyone was suppose to meet at High Point, I could not find my Richard anywhere, so I started looking for Rich, no one had seen him, then Scott, no one had seem him either. So I knew they were all together as ususal. Well sure enought they were all together on the top of my roof!! Hiding from the police officers who were trying to evacuate the area, they were nosey and wanted to see what was going on. It was nothing to wake up in the morning and see Rich on the couch, or even making coffee. We never met Rich's mom but we knew the rest of the family. I will never forget the day that Debbie was fussing at my son Richard, when she did not know that who she really meant was his father. too funny. Kelly, I do not know you but I can feel your pain and loss. We have many great story's about such a wonderful person and firend to our children. God Bless and we will be happy to help in anyway.

We will miss you more than you're ever know. Funny, kind, loving and amazing. We could never have been in a bad mood around you. You always make us laugh. The many trips and fun times we will miss, but will hold those dear. Even when we had periods of time of not seeing you, you never changed, always the same amazing RICH! I cut my teeth in this business with the crew at Co 49 so I try to watch what is going on with you all. I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Rich. It sounds like he is one that had shoes no one will be able to fill. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, his FD family, and his law inforcement family as well.

The policeman stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't, because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent, because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep....Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here. They never wanted me around, except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne, where the saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets, you've done your time in hell."

I am writing as a friend of Debbie Findley to express my sorrow at the loss of her brother. He sounds like a wonderful person and I know he will be missed by his family, both at home and at the Police/Fire Departments

Rich, I just saw you playing basketball the other day in front of 31 and you couldn't have had a bigger smile on your face as I drove by. I will forever remember the smile as I keep you in my prayers and the prayers of my company. My heart goes out to you and your family of which have lost a great person to a better place.

We extend to you all our heartfelt sympathy at the tragic loss of Rich. Rich was a fine man and a true hero. We have many fond memories of our years growing up together in Calverton.
