Our thoughts and prayers are with both the family and the Beltsville Fire Dept.

I am soooo deeply saddened by the news of Rich's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and extended families in the fire and police departments he dedicated his life to serve. It is so hard to put into words what an amazing person Rich was to everyone who had the privilege to know him. Fortunately, I was one of those lucky people who were blessed with calling Rich a friend.

I rode on many calls and even bunked at 31 for a while together with him. I will never forget how he filled every day with laughter whether it was by telling some silly joke, making some quirky sound, or making a hysterical impression. He always had us in stitches, even on those 3am calls for the frequent flyer you had transported 100 times over. He also knew when it was time to get the job done and have your back too on those fire calls.

Rich, I wish that I had one more chance of flying for you with you buying our favorite Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream from 7-11 on Powder Mill Road...I will always cherish those memories...

Kelly, no words can ever express the sympathy for your loss. May God give you the strength, knowledge and wisdom needed to continue forth in life. May God Bless you and the girls during your time of sorrow. To the members of PGPD and BVFD, may God watch over you and keep you safe.

We are so sorry. Our son, currently serving as an Army Ranger, has been a volunteer #35 and knew your firefighter. We have moved away from the DC area, but still respect all that you do to serve the community. Thank you, and our condolances.

Hey guys. I just wanted 2 say that I'm really sorry about what happened to him. Even tho i didn't know him as much as u guys and my dad did, I'm still going to miss him. i remember when duggie and rich laughed at me when i sprained my foot again. that was the last time i saw him. I'm going to miss him so much. And Kelly, I'm really really sorry. You and your daughters are in my prayers. RIP Rich!

I want to say how deeply sadened I am to learn about the passing of Rich. Seems like just yesterday we were all back in Calverton playing sports and getting into some kind of trouble after school. Rich truely made a great life for himself and his family. I can't understand why something like this happens to such a good person, but I do know that Rich will be dearly missed!

Dear Kelly and girls-I'm so sorry for your loss. Although I never knew Rich and his family I am the cousin from New Orleans who went to Portugal with Rich's mom. From all the emails I have read, he sounded like a wonderful man and one to be very proud of. I know nothing I say at this time can really bring you peace, but I will keep all of you in my prayers in hopes one day you will feel it.

My husband is a policeman for St John the Bapist Parish and all of them send their love and support. We are also members of The Manchac Volunteer Fire Dept and they too also feel your pain.

Walking to Calverton Elementary school, building forts in the backyard, playing hide and seek on hot summer nights, playing kickball in the middle of Dunnington Road...tackling everyone for the apple gum that the ice cream man would throw after his stops at my house.... and Richards mother making the best grilled cheese sandwiches ever!! .....his simple smile and laughter will forever be the impressions that Richard has left with us. You will be missed.

I have been a friend of the family for years and even though I didn't know Richard personally I knew Kelly, her mom Debbie, and Vicki and Larry. They are wonderful people. My prayers are with you all. Even though he will be missed terribly, I just know he is in a better place, and someday we will all be together.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family. Growing up in Calverton, it was hard not to miss Rich out on the volleyball courts. Whether at High Point or Calverton swim club, you always wanted Richard to be on your team, that was just the type of guy he was. He was just amazing, just as sure that he was amazing Dad and friend.

I am going to miss you. I know we were at different stations but we were
family. Tears are running down my face typing this and remembering the
emergency calls we were on together. I am praying for strengh for Kelly and

i'm so sorry 4 your lose and my prayers go out to his family

Rich was a great guy. I remember when he would patrol our apartment complex, and my mom and I would go out to see him and give him dinner. Our families have always been close, my mom being best friends with Kelly, and we miss him so much. There's no doubt that he was a wonderful police officer, and was dedicated to his job, his volunteer work, and of course his family. RIP Rich, you'll be missed and love by all, rembered by many, and forgotten by none.

Kelly, Nicole and Lauren, we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers at this really difficult time. Please know that we are here for you in any way that you may need us. There will be many times of sorrow, but always remember the wonderful times you had together as a family.

A laugh, a smile, a bit of encouragement these are just a few things Rich could give to anybody. Presenting himself with a smile and a kind word, he was an easy going guy. We have many fond memories in our hearts. He will always be remembered and missed by many. We love and miss you Rich!!!!!

Kelly, Nicole, Lauren and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. We were extremely fortunate for having Rich with our Frederick Gymnastics Family protecting our little girls during their gymnastics meets...and having another proud father rooting over the balcony for the accomplishments of all of the girls....we will forever remember the proud smile on your face! Our community will stand by and support your wife and girls in return for all of your community services that you provided for us to keep us safe.

Rich you were a great guy and you will be missed by many. Kelly, may God bless you and the girls through these troubling times. Knowing all of the great people that I have met while working at both Beltsville stations, I feel confident that you will have the support that you will need.

We are at a loss for words. Rich was a lovely person, a great dad and a loving husband. Our hearts are breaking for Kelly, Nicole and Lauren. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all for such a terrible loss.

I think I can speak for everyone ever assigned to Co. 31 / 41, that Rich will be greatly missed as a Husband, Father, Police Officer, Fireman, and Friend. I can still picture Rich walking into the kitchen at 31 and cracking a joke or making fun of Hump and everyone would be laughing. Our thoughts are with Kelly and all.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of Corporal Richard Findley. My prayers and thoughts are with the family, and with his Mom, Delores. I worked with Delores at UMBI, and want her to know that I, as well as my church, are praying for comfort at this time for the entire family.
