Personnel from the Beltsville VFD and Career Personnel assigned to 31 (C-Shift) have been working on a roof simulator. The design of this simulator will serve several purposes, with the pitch roof we will be able to drop pallets in the precut holes and personnel will be able to train cutting a roof and saw operations, we have also designed part of this to simulate a flat roof. The area under the pitch roof area will be used to train on search and rescue, we will be hanging drywall on a wall for some hook time. Personnel will also be cleaning up the old training maze and doing some minor repairs to get this building back in use. Once the roof is shingled and tar is placed on the flat roof area personnel will start using it.
We would like to thank Fortune Johnson in Laurel for the donation of the wood and RD Bean Roofing in Beltsville who will be doing the shingles and tar.
