At approximately 4:50 PM, Engine and Ambulance 31, and other PGFD units, were dispatched to the SB lanes of 295 at Rt. 193 for a rescue call. The incident was found to be located at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Parkway access bridge located north of Greenbelt Road.

As seen on the photo, (Courtesy of PGFD PIO/Twitter) a driver hauling a small excavator discovered that his load was not small enough to pass under the bridge. The construction equipment being hauled struck the NASA bridge causing significant damage. NASA has shut the bridge down indefinitely pending DOT inspection.

Ambulance 31 transported one patient.
