Volunteers Stay Busy This Columbus Holiday.

The Beltsville Volunteers remained busy this Columbus Holiday. The career staff for the county were off duty due to the Holiday at mostly all stations, so the volunteers were in place to ensure that all citizens of Prince George's County received the best care possible when they called 9-1-1.

The Beltsville Volunteers ran a total of 24 calls for service between 7:00 AM and midnight. Beltsville Volunteers maintained three crews, one crew for the engine, one crew for the truck, and one crew for the ambulance. Several times through out the day all units were out handling several calls, one of which was a three alarm fire in Langly Park, MD.

Today was an example of how this county needs both the career staffing as well as the Volunteer staffing and leadership.
