I am terribly sorry for the loss of Life Member Cpl. Richard S. Finley. While I did not know Cpl. Finley personally, he sounds like an exemplary person. My thoughts go out to his wife and children. Please let me know if any memorial funds have been set up in his name.
Sincerely,

To The Family, members of Beltsville VFD and Prince George's County Police.
What can you say about a man who served the citizens of Prince George's County and always did so with honesty, devotion, pride. A man who loved his wife and daughters and loved life. I say, If you wanted a role model , a hero, a friend and a dedicated family man, Rich Findley was the man to follow.
Rich, rest in peace and know you are loved and missed. And your memory will never fade.

Mrs. Findley...the Lord will get you through this hard time. Your husband gave you 2 beautiful little angles and you know he will always be there with his hands on them. There is nothing I can say to make you feel better, but you can bet there are many many people that are here for you and the girls...

Although I only met Rich through the Middleton's a few times, I remember him being such a nice guy. My step-dad John Mahoney began his PGFD career at the Beltsville VFD and my heart aches for Rich's FD family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and with his family, especially his little girls. We are all grateful for Rich's service and all the officers and firefighters that go to work every day with the possibility of the unthinkable happening.

We are just citizens of Beltsville but we are truly saddened by the death of Richard Findley. A co-worker is a good friend of Richard's and to hear her sadness is compelling as I am sure the family must be even more saddened. Our thoughts and prayers and greatest sympathy for your family.
We appreciate his dedication to our country.
God Bless each and everyone.
The members of Boulevard Heights VFD respectfully join you in mourning the loss of a great firefighter and officer. It's extremely tough to lose someone suddenly and senselessly. Our hearts truly go out to you and please know that we are here for you if you need us in any way.
God bless you.

What is the meaning of "In The Line Of Duty"
It means that an officer made the Ultimate sacrifice.
It means that someone took an officer's life.
A hero has fallen.
Officers who gave their all
To protect and serve
Have been killed by someone whom they swore
To protect and serve.
Rest Well and Rest Easy, brother Officer...we will continue to patrol the beat down here while you patrol it up there.

We did not know Richard, but loosing any member of the police dept or fire dept is a major loss. Not just for the families, friends and co-workers, but for the community that really cares.
My cousin is a Federal Fire Fighter and also vol at the Bryans Road fire dept Station 11, Bryan Hamilton. He has been a firefighter since 16 years old.
Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to all who knew Richard Findley.
He is missed by so many, as I saw today at the viewing.
We will keep all of you in our thought and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with Rich's family. I knew Rich from Silver Spring Ambulance Service, he was such a joker. No matter how bad a day someone was having he could always brighten it. His dedication was amazing. No matter what it was he gave his all. He will be missed and the memories will always be in my heart. I love ya.

I, along with so many others, have so many good memories of Richard growing up. I were friends from kindergarten through high school. We lost touch after high school, but began talking again a few years ago. He never grew out of his "class clown" attitude (which is a good thing). During recent hard times, he helped me laugh when all I wanted to do was cry. He was such a good friend. He will be loved and missed by so many. Richard, this is not good bye, but until I see you again.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Richard Findley. I went to High Point with him in the 80s, and although I didn't know him well, I was so upset to hear about his senseless death. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and friends. PG County and Maryland lost a true hero last week.

We are shocked and saddened at the death of Richard Findley. We did not know Richard well, and not at all as a Police Officer, but as a happy-go-lucky volleyball opponent. We always loved arriving at game time to find that we were about to get creamed by Rich, but didn't care because he was so fun to play with. He always wore a smile and a great attitude, displaying a zest for life that obviously wasn't confined to the volleyball court. He was clearly a special man who seemed to touch the heart of everyone he met. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues.

Brian and I both grew up with Rich. He was a few years older than us, so we didn't hang out until we started playing sports as adults. He always wore a smile when he was kicking your rear in softball or volleyball or whatever he played. He had more energy and vigor than any child and was just as fun. He was a kind and gentle man with a good heart. The last time we saw him was on the volleyball court up at High Point. He was just back from a injury - which hardly slowed him in the first place. His daughter played with our kids in the side room of the girls gym while we played a volleyball match. Brian and Rich talked about growing up in Calverton. Rich, you will always be remembered by your energy, your smile, and you humor. May God bless your family and keep them in his hands. Thank you for a job well done.
The members and families of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department Co. 43 wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family of Rich Findley and the members of Co. 31. If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to call.
"Friendship improves happiness and abates misery, by the doubling of our joy and the dividing of our grief."

My heartfelt sympathies go out to all the member of Beltsville as well as to Kelly and her girls. I was so saddened to hear about this tragedy. Although its been a few years since I was there, it brought tears to my eyes when I heard the news. I am lucky enough to say that I knew Rich and he was one of the most genuine people I have ever met. He always looked at the situation at hand and made the best of it. I will never forget him. He and Bubba helped me get adjusted to the living 'fire house life' in the very beginning when I needed it the most.
I am sorry I am not there during this time to personally give my condolences but know that you all are in my heart and prayers. My love to all of you!!!
