Lost Students Keep BVFD Busy in the Snow

By Chief Al Schwartz
February 6, 2010

Just before 130 AM this morning Engine 312, Truck 31, Ambulance 319 and Chief 31 were alerted to the Beltsville Agricultural Center for a report of 9 students lost in the woods. Once information was gathered that the students had walked from Capital College on Springfield Road into the wood, units positioned in that area, utilizing air horns and sirens and communicating with the students through cell phones after about 90 minutes of searching unit located the students about a half mile from the college off Springfield Rd. All the students refused transport, but due to the weather and trees and power lines down the students are now hanging out at station 31 enjoying some pizza and warmth.

Units: Engine 312, Truck 31, Ambulance 319, 119, 359 and Medic 49, Batt Chief 6 and Chief 31
