Site looks great!! A lot of good memories at 31. Belonged to 31 from 1975 to 1977. Miss the old 75' ladder truck and riding to laurel on 10 boxes up on the platform in the rain and cold and hiding below the hose bed on 311's back step to stay warm. Good times!!! Be safe.

If you ever need the Patriot Guard Riders for a funeral just drop us a line and we will support you and honor your fallen hero. Once a firefighter always a firefighter.

My husband Mark Hewlett was a member of your fire deptment when it was only 31. I wanted to let all of you older timers know that Mark passed away at age 60 on july 31, 2010. He enjoyed his firefighting, and riding the ambulance. I however only know you men by face not name, so please keep him in your hearts and prayers as you go out on your calls.

thank you

I would like to express my appreciation for the professionalism and expertise demonstrated by members of Unit 31. On July 8 at 6:15pm my wife was home alone when she had a heart attack. She was able to call "911". Unit 31 responded and was on site within 5 minutes. They took immediate action to address the issue. Their prompt professional attention in the critical early moments of this attack were instrumental in her prompt attention at the hospital and successful recovery.

Such a wonderful site! The pictures (new and old) are fantastic!
I grew up in Beltsville and BVFD was a part of my life. I was a majorette during the late 60's. My brother (John Sr.) was a member there for a few
years. He made BVFD a part of his life and always spoke about it. I'm sure John and other former members are looking down with pride on you all.
Thanks for being there !

Just want to take a moment to thank all the members of the Beltsville Vol Fire Dept and the Ladies Auxiliary for all support you gave to my family and I at a time where we needed it the most.By now, just about everyone knows my father Richard Jones passed away on the morning of April 16th 2010.All it took was one phone call to Al and everything was taken care of, from the service to the use of the hall. You all, did a wonderful job in honoring the life and memory of my father. As most of the older guys know, I practically grew up in that firehouse as my dad would bring me with him just about every time he came in and I have a lot of fond memories from the the times I spent at Co.31, it was good to see some of you guys! I Still live around the corner from the firehouse, and every time I hear the siren blow and see one of the peice's come by, it makes me proud.I couldn't ask for a better group of people to help serve and protect the community that I live in.God bless and stay safe.

Thanks for doing all you do. Many years of good memories as a police officer in Laurel watching Beltsville heading noth on US Route 1. When I needed fire service at my Beltsville home, a safe feeling hearing those sirens getting closer. Cheers to a great group of people at BVFD.

To be able to read through the history of Beltsville's origination makes me so proud to be the grand daughter of Thomas P. Collins. In 1950 he was one of first members. Now the Collins's family owns tone of the orginal pieces of equipment BVFD purchased; The 1955 International Pumper. Now, the Collins Family continues its interest in fire and rescue, as my brother Brian Collins followed in our father's Wayne Collins, and grandfathers footsteps to become a firefighter as well. Beltsville has changed throughout the years, but it will always be my home. And running through that firehouse growing up is a memory that I will never forget. Although, living on Harford Ave directly behind the siren was one I did forget until I moved to a small town in Caroline County, and on my first night living there... The Siren blew. Brought back so many good memories. Take Care of that house, and that town. I miss it, and the wonderful people who made Company 31 the great station is today.

Hey, I was sent a few picks from a friends wife that he had downloaded. And much to my amazement, there I was in one of the pictures of the majorettes. I do believe I'm about 9 or 10 years old. So, with that, you know you are old when you find yourself on a website in the tab "Photos" and the link to "In the Past"! What a hoot!! I sure do miss those days of the parade coming down Powder Mill Road and on to Prince George Street. My family used to sit at my Great-Aunt's house on Prince George Street and cheer us on.

Please forward this to Kelly and the girls for me. I miss you guys Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Love ya guys

My First Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below with tiny lights like Heaven's stars reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away your tears, for I am sharing Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear many Christmas songs that people hold so dear. But the sounds of Music can't compare with the Christmas Choir here. I have no words to tell you the joy their voices bring. It's far beyond description, to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me. I see the pain within your heart. But I am not so far away, we really aren't apart. So be happy for me loved ones, you know I hold you dear. And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus
Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift from my heavenly home above. I send you each a memory of my undying love. After all "love" is the gift more precious than gold. It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do. For I can't count the blessings for the love he has for you. So, have a Merry Christmas and wipe away those tears. For I am sharing Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I love you all and miss you, I am always here for you Kelly and my other family at Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department. Take care

Love Wendy and my Rugrat Patrol
