I love the trip down memory lane, except for the tanker I either operated or at least rode on most of the equipment.

I marched the Drum Corp for 4 years in the mid seventys including the bicentenial parades. Ran calls as a volenteer from 79-81. Richard Jones and Big Bobby Evans signed my application. Cope, DeHaven, Hefrans, Chilcoate, Lien, Birdsongs, Allens, Torre, and Palmer were all running calls then. Lt Gore was still incharge during the day and shiftmen like Belieu, Sarni, Keister, and others kept us in line. Good Times and Good memories.
4,000 calls a year?? That's almost 10x the amount of calls we run a year! Keep up the great work guys!

Thanks for majorette pictures, I have none of myself and loved seeing the ones on the site. Seeing my brothers Bob and John as young men was very special too. The auxilliary helped us say goodbye to our Mother, Hilda Mahoney in May 2011 and it was wonderful to be back at the Fire Hall. I'll be at the memorial event in September.

I am very sad to her the news about John John. He was the type of person that once you met him you would never forget him. I remember the days when we all were alot younger and John was one of the smaller guys but he had the biggest car, that big black Charger. I guess you could say the same for his big heart. Rest in peace John, you wil NEVER be forgotten.

Site looks great!! A lot of good memories at 31. Belonged to 31 from 1975 to 1977. Miss the old 75' ladder truck and riding to laurel on 10 boxes up on the platform in the rain and cold and hiding below the hose bed on 311's back step to stay warm. Good times!!! Be safe.
If you ever need the Patriot Guard Riders for a funeral just drop us a line and we will support you and honor your fallen hero. Once a firefighter always a firefighter.

My husband Mark Hewlett was a member of your fire deptment when it was only 31. I wanted to let all of you older timers know that Mark passed away at age 60 on july 31, 2010. He enjoyed his firefighting, and riding the ambulance. I however only know you men by face not name, so please keep him in your hearts and prayers as you go out on your calls.
Great site guys. Just stopping by to say hi! I am a firefighter myself for 16 yrs. I also own a graphics business. I do vinyl decals, can koozies, etc. I have tons of firefighter graphics that i ship all over the country.
Keep up the good work guys. -Brad

I would like to express my appreciation for the professionalism and expertise demonstrated by members of Unit 31. On July 8 at 6:15pm my wife was home alone when she had a heart attack. She was able to call "911". Unit 31 responded and was on site within 5 minutes. They took immediate action to address the issue. Their prompt professional attention in the critical early moments of this attack were instrumental in her prompt attention at the hospital and successful recovery.

Such a wonderful site! The pictures (new and old) are fantastic! I grew up in Beltsville and BVFD was a part of my life. I was a majorette during the late 60's. My brother (John Sr.) was a member there for a few years. He made BVFD a part of his life and always spoke about it. I'm sure John and other former members are looking down with pride on you all. Thanks for being there !

Just want to take a moment to thank all the members of the Beltsville Vol Fire Dept and the Ladies Auxiliary for all support you gave to my family and I at a time where we needed it the most.By now, just about everyone knows my father Richard Jones passed away on the morning of April 16th 2010.All it took was one phone call to Al and everything was taken care of, from the service to the use of the hall. You all, did a wonderful job in honoring the life and memory of my father. As most of the older guys know, I practically grew up in that firehouse as my dad would bring me with him just about every time he came in and I have a lot of fond memories from the the times I spent at Co.31, it was good to see some of you guys! I Still live around the corner from the firehouse, and every time I hear the siren blow and see one of the peice's come by, it makes me proud.I couldn't ask for a better group of people to help serve and protect the community that I live in.God bless and stay safe.

Thanks for doing all you do. Many years of good memories as a police officer in Laurel watching Beltsville heading noth on US Route 1. When I needed fire service at my Beltsville home, a safe feeling hearing those sirens getting closer. Cheers to a great group of people at BVFD.

To be able to read through the history of Beltsville's origination makes me so proud to be the grand daughter of Thomas P. Collins. In 1950 he was one of first members. Now the Collins's family owns tone of the orginal pieces of equipment BVFD purchased; The 1955 International Pumper. Now, the Collins Family continues its interest in fire and rescue, as my brother Brian Collins followed in our father's Wayne Collins, and grandfathers footsteps to become a firefighter as well. Beltsville has changed throughout the years, but it will always be my home. And running through that firehouse growing up is a memory that I will never forget. Although, living on Harford Ave directly behind the siren was one I did forget until I moved to a small town in Caroline County, and on my first night living there... The Siren blew. Brought back so many good memories. Take Care of that house, and that town. I miss it, and the wonderful people who made Company 31 the great station is today.
Want to say Hi and Wish Everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year. Still have to make my way back down to visit, haven't been down since I graduated from Maryland.
